Rules & Expectations
-
Is there a booster club?
Currently, the middle school football team doesn't have an organized club. In the past, parents have organized snacks and drinks for away games.
-
Is there a cost associated with joining?
There is no cost to play football at TMS--shoulder pads, helmets, and major equipment is provided.
You may prefer to purchase your own mouthpiece or other protective equipment, but you are provided with one mouthpiece at the beginning of the season. It is highly recommended that you purchase your own padded girdle, which is worn underneath your game and practice pants. This item includes hip pads, thigh pads, and a tailbone pad. Having your own is more sanitary and allows you to be as comfortable as possible.
-
Is there certain dress that is to be worn to school on game days?
Usually, the team wears that night’s jersey to school on game days.
-
What are the expectations for athletes?
Coach Degler expects enthusiasm, effort, and a willingness to improve as a football player. Our job as TMS football coaches is to prepare students for high school football. Enthusiasm, effort, and the willingness to get better go a long way towards achievement of that goal as a player.
-
What are the rules for being on the team?
Team-specific rules are passed out and communicated before or during the first practice.
-
When are practices?
Practices are normally after school from 3:30-5:15, though a practice and game schedule will be provided.
-
When are try-outs/callouts?
There are no cuts in middle school football; if you attend the first practice, you are a member of the team. The first practice typically takes place on or around the first day of school.
-
When is the parent meeting?
The time and date of the parents' meeting will be communicated on or around the date of the first practice. We will also use the Remind app to aid in mass communication with parents and players of TMS Football.
