National Honor Society Overview
-
Co-sponsored by Ms. Warner and Ms. Capshaw, the National Honor Society is open to sophomores with a 4.0 accumulated GPA and juniors with a 3.75 accumulated GPA. These two were prompted to take over the NHS when the prior sponsor left.
Who can join?
Sophomores with a 4.0 accumulated GPA and juniors with a 3.75 accumulated GPA are invited to apply. Students showing scholarship, leadership, character, and service are selected. The club typically has 25-30 members each year.
What are the club's goals?
The NHS wants members to maintain their scholarship, leadership, character and service, and be a role model to other students.
What does the club do?
The NHS sponsors a canned food drive, recognizes academic achievement and improvements for the whole student body, writes notes to staff members, cooks a meal for the staff, and washes the Encore buses.
The Spring Honors Banquet recognizes students who earned a 3.75 all three nine weeks, plus the ones in the top 10% of their class. Afterwards we have our Induction.
What can new members expect?
New members can expect meetings once or twice a month. The NHS likes to be active.
