High school is an exciting and stressful time for students. In the light of scope and sequence, high school students are at the pinnacle of success: they've mastered the fundamentals of elementary school and the higher-level learning of middle school. Now is when it all comes together.

How is scope and sequence different in high school? It sounds the same.

Similar to prior grade levels, new concepts build on previously-learned ideas. Remember, “scope” refers to topics, content, or skills being taught, while “sequence” refers to the timeline in which it is learned.

A student cannot take the Chemistry II class before taking Chemistry I, nor can they take AP German IV before taking German I, II, and III.

This is to help the student learn the necessary skills before enrolling in more difficult classes.
